Spiti Valley, also known as Lahaul-Spiti, is a stunning cold desert mountain valley located in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh. It is famous for its breathtaking landscapes and undiscovered tourist spots. The name “Spiti” translates to “middle-land” in English, representing its position between Tibet and India. With a sparse population, Spiti Valley is primarily inhabited by followers of Vajrayana Buddhism. It serves as a gateway to the mystical Ladakhi region and can only be accessed by road during the summer months of April to October. Surrounded by towering mountain ranges, the valley is separated from the Kullu Valley by the Rohtang Pass and from Lahaul by the Kunzum Pass. These mountain passes are connected by the Leh-Manali national highway, which is sometimes closed during winter due to heavy snowfall. However, Spiti remains accessible through the Shimla-Kinnaur route.
